When I was watching her perform “Don’t Rain on My Parade” during Sectionals I actually got so overwhelmed I had to pause the episode. I said out loud, “Oh, what a beautiful character.” I didn’t even mean in a physical sense, though yes I do think Lea Michele is quite pretty and as Rachel, but just …ah the club was so close to being finished by circumstances beyond their control and she stepped up with next to no preparation. No that’s a lie, actually she’d been preparing for that moment every day of her life before that. She stepped out from behind the curtains and she sang that song which is essentially Rachel’s theme song.
You cannot trample her down by not believing in her. You cannot trample her down by not giving her the solo (though at first, she would give you hell about it). You cannot trample her down by giving her a slushie to the face or preferring another girl for her or not being there when you say you will or not caring about the performance that you have to sing with her. She is characterized, wonderfully, painfully, with all the insecurities and doubts of a teenage girl but we constantly see her overcoming them, no, storming past them because she is in love with the world and wants everything so badly she sticks out from all her high school peers and is ostracized partly because of it. I’m really touched by that.

BRITT!!! Oh, this is so perfect.

Aww.

I read this and started crying all over again.  It’s so, so accurate.

I cried 4 times during this episode. Best ever.
